April Moon Books released Brian M. Sammons's terrific anthology The Dark Rites of Cthulhu back in May, so when I heard word of his newest, World War Cthulhu, edited with Glynn Owen Barrass, I was very intrigued. World War Cthulhu is a huge and ambitious anthology of original Cthulhu Mythos fiction from some of the hottest talents in the field, including Stephen Mark Rainey, Robert M. Price. Jonathan Maberry and Weston Ochse are the marquee names here, but story highlights include Christine Morgan's "Little Johnny Jump-Up," a creepy, contemplative Civil War ghost story, and Curtis C. Chen's "Making Waves," an alternate-history World War II tale with one foot firmly planted in the Cthulhu Mythos. Chaosium Inc. is a publisher of tabletop role-playing games established by Greg Stafford in Chaosium's major titles include Call of Cthulhu, based on the horror fiction stories of H. P. Lovecraft, RuneQuest Glorantha, Pendragon, based on Thomas Mallory's Le Morte d'Arthur, and 7th Sea, "swashbuckling and sorcery" set in a fantasy 17th century Europe.

In forgotten R’lyeh, Cthulhu stirs as the mighty armies of the Third Reich march. Critically-lauded editor Jonathan Oliver (The End of The Line, House of Fear, Magic) has collected together fourteen original tales of the Mythos including work by James Lovegrove, Weston Ochse, Rebecca Levene, Robin D. Laws, Simon Bestwick, Gaie Sebold, T.P. Pike, Sarah Newton, Greg Stolze, Paul Finch, John Llewellyn Probert, Jonathan Green, Archie Black and World Fantasy Award winner Lavie Tidhar. Jon's a fine editor - I've had the great pleasure of working with him on both Tide Of Souls and The Faceless - and having a story in a previous.
